When configuring online server hosts using Glitch and Cloudflare, the system relies on specific hostnames, endpoints, and domain routing structures depending on whether you are managing the origin server or the edge proxy network.

1. Glitch Hosting Server Hosts (Origin)

When your application runs on Glitch, its underlying execution environment uses specific internal and external host patterns:

  • Default Project Subdomain Host: your-project-name.glitch.me — This is the default target hostname assigned to your container instance.
  • Internal Application Binding: Node.js apps typically listen on 0.0.0.0 (all interfaces) or localhost across the dynamic port provided via the process.env.PORT environment variable (commonly port 3000 internally).

2. Cloudflare Edge Server Hosts (Proxy & CDN)

When Cloudflare acts as the reverse proxy layer sitting in front of Glitch, traffic flows through Cloudflare's globally distributed edge network hosts:

  • Custom Domain / Root Host: yourdomain.com (configured via a CNAME record pointing to your Glitch host).

3. Alternative Cloudflare Native Hosting Hosts (Serverless)

If you decide to migrate or scale your serverless/edge logic entirely inside Cloudflare without an external origin like Glitch, Cloudflare provides native hosting environments with distinct host formats:

  • Cloudflare Pages Hosts: your-project-name.pages.dev
  • Cloudflare Workers Hosts: your-worker-name.subdomain.workers.dev
